Jones thesis is to argue that violent media isn't bad for kids,
it actually helps them. To restate his thesis, violent media helps kids
escape from adolescence to decrease their natural aggression.
Arguments to jones thesis would be a superhero role-model giving a
kid strength and making him brave. Children need a way to vent their emotions
and letting them read stories, imagine they are heroic crime-fighters, and
act out battle scenes playfully with their friends helps them develop into
kids that will communicate with others and not be shy. All kids have rage and
letting it out in a safe way can help then with everyday life.
Some arguments say that violent games lead to a violent
life. Jones says that it is true that people are easily influenced from these
games and makes them violent, but it's much more likely for a child to grow
up "too passive, too distrustful or themselves, too easily
manipulated".
A lot of parents try to protect their children from the
influence of violence, but they also need to know that the influence also
helps them become aware and feel like they have influence on the world.
